Campus Recreation Day Camp

For 11 weeks during the summer of 2019, WVU Campus Recreation will offer week-long day-camps for youth going into first through sixth grade. Camps will incorporate activities all across Campus Rec facilities including the leisure pool with beach-style entry and aquatic basketball, our 55ft-tall rock wall that features multi skill level routes, outdoor fields and our full-court gyms. Keeping reading for information on age groups, dates, pricing, what to bring, and possible camp themes.

Age Groups:

Group placements based on your students grade designation beginning the 2019/20 academic year. 
    • First and Second Graders: "Little Buckskins"
    • Third and Fourth Graders: "Musket Buddies"
    • Fifth and Sixth Graders: "Jr. Mountaineers"

Pricing:

  • For one week - $140/$175 for members/non-members (tax not included).
  • NOTE: Campers can register for UP TO (but no more than) 6 weeks of camp.

What to Bring:

  • CLOTHES: Campers should arrive dressed for the activities of each camp day. We recommend active wear appropriate for warm weather, as we will be spending time outdoors when the weather permits. Campers should wear athletic shoes (no sandals or open-toed shoes) with socks.
  • WATER BOTTLE: There are drinking fountains in the facility, but we recommend that your child has a water bottle labeled with the camper’s name.
  • LUNCH AND SNACK: Campers are required to bring a lunch and a snack for the day. Please label the lunch container with the camper’s name. No food is provided by Campus Recreation.
    If child does not bring lunch, parent/guardian will be contacted to bring one. If unable to get in contact, lunch will be purchased, and a $20 fee will be assessed upon pickup.
  • SUNBLOCK: Activities will take place outdoors. We recommend applying sunblock prior to arrival at camp, as well as sending sunscreen with your child.
  • SWIMMING GEAR AND DRY BAG: Please pack a swimsuit and a towel for the camper and provide a plastic bag to store them in after swimming. Swimming will occur daily, if the weather permits.
  • GYM BAG/BACKPACK: A gym bag or backpack is recommended for the camper’s belongings. Please label with the camper’s name.

What NOT to bring:

  • Electronic devices
  • Sickness/illnesses
  • Toys or personal sports equipment (unless requested)
  • Weapons or look-alike weapons of any kind

Camp Themes:

  • Get Your Game On: Board games and game shows are always fun, so why not join Campus Rec this week while we may play classic games such as versions of family feud, sorry!, twister, deal or no deal, checkers, and more!
  • Play Ball: This week will focus on playing all sorts of sports everyday, possibly including basketball, soccer, hockey, swimming, softball/t-ball, volleyball, and more! Campers are encouraged to wear their favorite sports jerseys.
  • Super Fun Superhero: Every kid dreams of being a superhero, and now is there chance! Campers will have the opportunity to dress like their favorite heroes, design their own, and play all sorts of games to emphasize their powers!
  • Adventure Time: Campers will focus on outdoorsy type activities which may include going on adventure walks, spending lots of time at the climbing wall, and focusing on a nature-themed week!
  • Wonderful Wizardry: Campers will enter the wonderful world of wizardry this week, as they and their “House” will learn and play the game of quidditch from Harry Potter, make magic wands and hats, while also learning spells to become the best wizards they can be!
  • Once Upon a Time: The Wonderful World of Disney takes WVU as this Disney theme may include making crafts (ears, costumes, etc…), karaoke, dressing like your favorite character, and participating in Disney themed activities.
  • Adventure Time: Campers will focus on outdoorsy type activities which may include going on adventure walks, spending lots of time at the climbing wall, and focusing on a nature-themed week!
  • Water Week: It’s hot outside, so we’ll spend lots of time in the pool this week playing different water games and getting our fish on! We’ll go kayaking and canoeing in the WVU pool as well as spending our time splashing around!
  • Moovin' and Groovin': Much of this week will be spent gettin’ our groove on as we will be listening to the campers’ favorite music, doing karaoke, singing, and learning different dances that they can teach their friends and family!
  • Wacky Week: Everyone get your wacky on! Campers will be dressed in their craziest, most mismatched outfits and participate in all sorts of wacky, fun-filled games and activities.
  • Playground Mania: Let's break out the playground games this week, as the campers will learn and play box-ball (four square), jump rope, hopscotch, tag, capture the flag, and other classic playground games!
