Membership

WVU has wonderful recreation facilities and amenities designed to help you and your family meet your wellness needs. A membership is your ticket to take advantage of all our amazing equipment and programs in order to reach your goals.

ELIGIBILITY details

The following groups are eligible for membership at Campus Recreation: 

WVU Students

Includes students, spouses and dependents

WVU students with valid Mountaineer Cards are automatically members through payment of tuition and “Campus Fees” when currently registered for classes.

Students who are taking online classes are not always mandated to pay "Campus Fees" and thus can purchase a membership for fall or spring semester for $110.

WVU Faculty and Staff

Includes faculty/staff, spouse/partner and dependents

Employees must present verification of current West Virginia University employment (A valid Mountaineer Card with employee designation satisfies this requirement) and pay the membership fee. 

Once eligibility is confirmed and your fee is paid, eligibility will be added to your employee identification card through the Mountaineer Card Office. Spouse/Partner and/or family member will be issued photo ID cards through the SRC Membership Office. 

University Affiliate Groups

Includes eligible employees, spouses and dependents

Eligible groups:

  • WVU Ruby Hospital
  • WVU Medical Corporation
  • WVU Foundation
  • WV Geological Survey
  • WVU Research Corporation
  • WVU Faculty / Staff Retirees
  • WVNET
  • SilverSneakers (Participating Facility)
Employment verification will be done through respective Human Resource Departments of each affiliate group.

Membership comes with rewards! In addition to access to our facilities, we offer numerous services and amenities to our members.

Equipment Checkout

Various sports equipment including racquets, volleyballs, climbing shoes and more is available for checkout at the front desk. 

A valid Mountaineer Card or Student Recreation Center ID card is required to check in and check out equipment. Basketballs are available on courts 5 and 7 and a ball pump is available for use at the front desk. Items not checked in or returned by the end of the day will be marked as missing and the responsible member will be suspended until the item is either returned or paid for. Members must check out equipment for their sponsored guest.

Pro Shop

Located at the front desk, the Pro Shop provides various products for sale including protein shakes, sports drinks, snacks, headphones, etc.

Please note that the only liquid permitted within the facility is water in a non-glass container. All other beverages must be consumed outside of the access area. There are various water bottle filling stations located throughout the facility and vending machines with disposable water bottles for purchase at either entrance of the facility.

Child Care

Campus Recreation is proud to provide fun and safe childcare options for parents who come to workout at the Student Rec Center.

Child flex-care is provided at the Mountaineer KidsZone for Campus Recreation members. Mountaineer KidZone (MKZ) is a flex-care center for children located in the Student Recreation Center. Staff provide safe and developmentally appropriate activities for children aged six weeks through eight years of age. Towel Service

Clean sweat towels and shower towels are available for check out at the front desk. All towels must be returned to one of the towel return bins located in the locker rooms, on the fitness floors, and near the front desk.”

Locker Rentals

Lockers are available for members as an annual rental in both the Women’s and Men’s Locker Rooms. The annual fee is $110 (plus tax). 

Day Use Lockers

Fifty day use lockers are also available in each locker room and can be used free of charge. Additional day use lockers can be found throughout the facility. Day use lockers are first come first serve and personal locks are recommended to secure your belongings. Combination locks are available for purchase at the Pro Shop for $5. Your items and lock must be removed from a day use locker prior to the Rec Center closing. Any locks or items remaining in day use lockers at building close will be removed and placed in the lost and found.

Lost and Found

Campus Recreation is not responsible for lost or stolen items within the Student Recreation Center or on the surrounding Evansdale Fields. If found, items will be logged and stored for one month before being donated. Items not kept include tobacco products, disposable water bottles, personal toiletry items such as cleansing products, hair care products, razors, wash clothes, etc., are not held, but disposed of for sanitation reasons.
