Aquatics

The Aquatics Area of the Campus Recreation Center hosts many programs, including lap swim, free swim and various on campus events.

Reserve a Lane for Lap Swim Today!

To start the reopening of the Student Recreation Center, the Aquatics program will be offering times to reserve a lap lane for lap swim. Lanes are available in the cold lap pool, as well as the warm pool. Students and Staff can find instructions on how to register on the Reserve a Lap Lane page. Before registering, please view the video above so that you understand the rules and regulations Campus Recreation will be following to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants. Reservations must be made a day in advance.

Important Details for Your Visit

    • Lap swimming will require pre-registration through the web portal, or on your phone, with our WVUGo App. At this time, open play areas of the leisure pool and the hot tub will remain closed.
    • If you are a spouse/partner or dependent of an active member who would like to request access to reserve a swim lane, please email campusrec@mail.wvu.edu to request login information and to learn how to access the facility.
    • Spouse/partners and dependents must have their own reservation and be able to swim independently in their own lane.
    • Enter the Campus Recreation Center via the East Entrance near Towers and the CPASS building.
    • Upon entering the Recreation Center, proceed to the Welcome Desk where you will be given a temperature test, and then proceed to scan your reservation scan code on your phone or your WVU ID to enter. 
    • Changing rooms and showers are available, but ideally come dressed ready to swim.
    • As you enter onto the pool deck, masks are required. Face coverings can be removed when you are ready to get in the water.
    • You will see a pool attendant as you enter onto the pool deck. Check in, and receive your lane assignment and follow the floor markings. At this time, one swimmer is permitted per lane.
    • We have placed chairs at the end of your lane for your equipment.
    • We ask that you bring your own pool equipment, as we will not have any available for public use.
    • When swimming, enter the water in front of the lane marking and swim in the middle of the lane to stay distanced from others.
    • When out of the water, you will be expected to stay at least 6 feet away from others.
    • When you are done swimming, please wipe down any surface your items have touched with the wipes provided and replace your mask.
    • Our lifeguards are ready to keep you safe while on stand as well as off stand by continuing to clean the pool regularly.

Hours

The Aquatics Center will have the following hours for reserving a lap lane.

  • Monday - Friday: 5:00pm - 9:00pm
  • Saturday & Sunday: 10:00am - 5:00pm

The leisure pool will have limited space during swim lessons or group parties and events. Feel free to contact the SRC front desk at (304) 293-7529 during normal SRC hours to inquire about current availability and space in the Aquatics Area.

Policies and Procedures

  • Adult supervision is required in the aquatics area for children under 13 years of age.
  • Children over the age of 5 are not permitted in opposite sex locker rooms. Family changing rooms are available for your convenience.

leisure pool

Leisure Pool

The leisure pool (86 degrees) is a shallow pool with a beach-style entry leading into a depth of 4.5 feet. It has two sets of steps, a seating area, bubble couch, vortex area and two lanes for lap swimming. The leisure pool is used for private swim lessons, and infant and preschool  water readiness classes and is also available for public use.

Fitness Pool

The fitness pool (79 degrees) is six lanes wide and 25 yards long and ranges from 4 to 9 feet deep. This pool is used for fitness swimming, classes including Water Aerobics and Aqua HIIT, and Club and Intramural Sports events and tournaments.

The SRC Aquatics Area also features a cloverleaf-shaped spa with 14 jets and a 20-person capacity.
