Evansdale Fields

The Evansdale Fields host a variety of events, including pick-up sports, Intramural Sports, Club Sports and large groups. There are also four tennis courts available to use.

Parking

With an ever-expanding Evansdale Campus and growth of University resources, access to parking has been an ongoing focus for University planners. Several short-term parking lots have been added, including “Short Term 4” adjacent to the Recreation Center. Visit WVU's Transportation & Parking site for up-to-date information.

Some of the most pertinent facts are: 

  • Parking fees will be in effect Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • The rate per hour is the same as other surface lots: $1.25/hr.
  • Parking at the Coliseum costs $1 per parking session
  • Short Term lot 1 near the art museum is also a closer option with a cheaper parking rate ($0.50/hr).
  • The ParkMobile app and Mountain Line app are two resources that help identify open spaces and alternate transportation.

The Evansdale Fields host Intramural Sports and Club Sports events, informal pick-up sports, and large events.


Policies
  • Reservations are required for University departments, student organizations, and external users. To reserve space, email CampusRecEvents@mail.wvu.edu
    • Per BOG Rule 5.5. - Use of University Facilities, external users must provide adequate proof of insurance to utilize university space.
    • Utilization of fields and courts for the use of private for-profit training is prohibited without a reservation and proper proof of insurance.
  • Fields and courts are for appropriate sport, recreation, and academic instruction only.
    • No golf allowed on fields.
  • Pets are not permitted on the fields or courts
  • Field lights are on a seasonal schedule. If they are not on during operational hours, please call the front desk, (304) 293-7529, for assistance. They will be on upon request for a 2-hour time span.
