Jakob Bearhope
Coordinator for Competitive Sports | Campus Recreation
Jake Bearhope is originally from Knightstown, Indiana, and servers as one of the Coordinators of Competitive Sports. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with a focus in Exercise Science from Indiana University. Jake also received a Master’s degree in Sport Leadership from the University of Kentucky.
His campus recreation involvement started in Bloomington, Indiana, at Indiana University (IU). While at IU, he held the roles of Intramural Sports Official, Club and Intramural Head and Assistant Supervisor, and Club and Intramural Program Assistant. He then headed to Lexington, Kentucky, and served as the Intramural Sports Graduate Assistant with the University of Kentucky Campus Recreation and Wellness department. Jake stays actively involved in NIRSA by attending/volunteering at workshops, regional tournaments, and conferences.
Jake spends his free time reading, playing recreational sports, and watching baseball games.
Things you wouldn’t expect:
- One of his bucket list goals is to visit every Major League Baseball Stadium - he is almost halfway to his goal!
- He grew up on a farm that raised both fainting goats and emus.
- He also grew up across the street from the Historic Hoosier Gym, the filming spot for the famous basketball movie Hoosiers.
