Amanda Bray is a Kentucky native that joined the WVU Campus Recreation family in October of 2024 as the Associate Director of Programs. She received her bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration with a Minor in Event Management at Western Kentucky University. Amanda also obtained a master’s degree in Sports Management at Millersville University.
Amanda got her start in Campus Recreation working at Temple University as the Sport Club Coordinator. Next, she took on her initial role at Utah State University as the Assistant Director of Healthy Lifestyle Programs and Community Engagement overseeing the competitive sports, youth programs, fitness and wellness, and special events program areas. After 5 years, she was promoted to Associate Director of Programs and Assessment continuing her initial oversite while also adding nutrition and dietetics as well as assessment.
As the Associate Director of Programs, Amanda assists in guiding and mentoring various aspects of the department including competitive sports, fitness, and youth programs. Her dedication to campus recreation was fueled through her experience and development during her undergrad when she participated in intramurals as well as club volleyball. Because of that, she is a firm believer of the lasting impact it has on every student that participates in campus recreation to help build their overall wellness, lifelong friendships, and connection back to the university.
During her free time, Amanda likes to explore the outdoors with her husband and two dogs, Apollo and Xena. They mostly like hiking on the trails, car camping at a national or state park, or taking a weekend to go backpacking. If the weather is not great, Amanda also enjoys a cozy night in listening to her vinyls while painting.
