Event FAQs

Can I host a birthday party or event at the Rec Center even though I am not a member?

Yes, we welcome all outside groups and parties. Pricing will vary depending on the type of party and add-ons, but the service and quality will always be top-notch.

Am I limited to 15 people in my party? What if they are just there to observe and watch?

We do allow additional participants to join the party. If they decide to stay in the main hallway of the facility, parents can observe children in the pool and upper courts through our viewing windows. If parents and other party-goers decide to join the party in the facility past the front desk, there will be a fee associated with that individual. This is due to the additional risk and potential additional staff needed to keep all parties safe and happy.

What other activities do you provide other than using the pool?

We offer a wide variety of recreational opportunities for our party-goers. In addition to the pool we have the climbing wall, bubble soccer, human foosball, zorbs and nerf battles. We are happy to customize, combine and create a birthday party that will have your friends talking about it until next year!

Can I order food and cake through the Rec Center?

We do not offer food or beverage services within our department. We welcome guests to bring their own food and non-alcoholic drinks into the facility only during the designated party time and location. Please keep in mind that the party host is responsible for a light clean up after the event.

Can I use the stereo system in multipurpose room A?

Unfortunately, participants do not have access or permission to use the equipment or stereo system. They must bring their own equipment.

Can I reserve a court to play basketball on?

Our multipurpose courts are typically first-come, first-serve during open recreation hours. Because our facility is funded and operationally run by WVU Students, they are our top priority. All groups are reserved during non-peak hours and choose to not monopolize courts to one one organization. Additionally, we do not permit outside organizations to designate recurring, organized practice times within our facility.
