Campus Recreation, in collaboration with Facilities Management, has been working to make improvements to the Student Rec Center in order to better serve students, reduce utility costs and reduce energy consumption.
A phased replacement of interior lighting is forecasted to reduce energy consumption by over 80 percent. Currently, light fixtures in both multi-court gyms and the pool have been converted from metal halide to LED. The next phase of interior lighting replacement will include the racquetball and squash courts, followed by the climbing wall floodlights. These lighting replacements have allowed Campus Recreation to reduce consumption while dramatically increasing user experience with appropriate light levels.
