Stephanie Calhoun

Coordinator for Competitive Sports | Campus Recreation

Stephanie has served as a Coordinator for Competitive Sports at West Virginia University since May of 2019. She received her Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Bachelor of Science in Women’s Studies degrees from the University of Georgia, and her Master in Recreation Administration degree from Indiana University.

Stephanie became involved with campus recreation as an undergraduate student when she was brought on staff as an intramural sports official. What started as a part-time job quickly became a passion that led her from Athens to Bloomington for grad school, and now to Morgantown to work with intramural and club sports at WVU.

Stephanie has been a member of NIRSA since 2016 and has enjoyed all of the opportunities that have presented themselves through NIRSA. She has served in a variety of capacities such as a conference volunteer, presenter, committee member, and 2018-2019 Region III Student Leader. When she isn’t working on campus, Stephanie enjoys officiating football, basketball, and softball in and around the Morgantown community.

As a Competitive Sports Coordinator Stephanie, serves as a member of a team that supervises 50+ Club Sports, offers more than 15 intramural sports each year, and collaborates with departments across campus to provide new and exciting programs. Her favorite part of the job is creating programs where students can interact with one another, escape from academic stress, and engage in sports.

In Stephanie’s free time she enjoys being outside, traveling, trying new restaurants, and cheering on UGA athletics.
