Position Overview
Campus Recreation Professional Duties
- Collaborate with Campus Recreation staff to help department make the impact mentioned in our mission and vision statements
- Serves on assigned Campus Recreation and university work teams or committees as needed
- Provide evening and weekend operational support and event coordination as needed
- Produces required information for monthly and annual reports
- Provide instruction and development opportunities for staff through training, coaching and performance evaluations that incorporate student learning outcomes. Specific outcomes include critical thinking, creative thinking, problem solving, quality customer service, conflict resolution, initiative, communication, innovation, and other transferable skills related to the department work integrated learning program
- Attend and participate in University, Divisional, and Departmental events, programs, and training
- Other duties as assigned
Area Specific Duties
- Develop and manage the production and promotion of all programs, clubs, facilities and services for Student Wellness services
- Oversee graphic design projects such as posters, schedules, digital ads and apparel designs
- Administer the department’s social media accounts
- Contribute to website reviews and updates
- Provide photography and video support when needed
- Assist with the development of marketing videos and video advertisements
- Serve as department marketing liaison to student stakeholders (i.e., registered student organizations, the student newspaper, Greek Life, etc.)
- Support and promote Student Wellness services by soliciting new members, new sponsorship opportunities and corporate partnerships
- Contribute to the creation, promotion and execution of all Student Wellness special events
- Recruit, train and oversee a diverse student staff
- Represent the Department of Campus Recreation in a professional manner at all times
- Enforce and execute all policies and procedures set forth by the Department
- Perform other duties as assigned in GA Committee
- Contribute to the execution of programming and membership marketing tactics, customer retention initiatives and all special events
- Ability to promote our vision through the creation and distribution of diverse marketing materials
- Develop a working relationship with SW professional staff and support special event staff assigned to work events
- Must act and represent SW in a positive and professional manner
- Maintain a professional standard of performance on daily tasks
- Attend regularly scheduled departmental meetings for all areas necessary
- Communicate clear and concise information as needed to patrons and guests
- Adhere to all SW guidelines and non-negotiables
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution
- Admittance into a WVU graduate program
- Base Level CPR/AED/First Aid certification. Willingness to obtain American Red Cross CPRO certification within reasonable timeframe upon employment start date
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to work with diverse groups
- Competent knowledge of general computer programs including Excel, Word PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
- Experience using Adobe software, task management apps, familiarity using a variety of social media websites, and video editing
Prefferred Qualifications
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience
- Prior campus recreation experience
- Experience with project management, event planning
- Previous experience with Recreation Management and related software such as Fusion, Connect2, When to Work etc.
