Job Description

Responsible for planning, coordinating and teaching any combination of water skills ranging from Infant and Toddler Water-Readiness, Learn-to-Swim and water safety.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be familiar with the American Red Cross curriculum and know how to use course materials effectively
  • Adapt teaching approaches to the age, experience and ability of participants so they can meet course objectives
  • Provide for the health and safety of participants, including ensuring that all teaching and practice areas are free of hazards and that materials and equipment are safe
  • Communicate regularly with participants and/or parents, as appropriate, to ensure they are aware of progress
  • Participate in regular in-service training sessions
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor

Job Requirements

  • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification is preferred but not required
  • We seek individuals with teaching experience in the following program areas:
    • Parent/child attended infant, toddler and preschool classes
    • One-on-one adult and child private instruction
    • Group fitness
    • Coaching
    • Lifeguard instruction
  • Thorough knowledge and application of swimming and water safety skills
  • Thorough knowledge and application of teaching swimming and water safety skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work without supervision
