Downtown Fitness

Job Description

Within the department of Campus Recreation, Operations Attendants assist with overseeing the daily fitness floor and front desk operations of the Student Recreation Center. Operations Attendants gain skills and experience pertaining to customer service, time management, effective and efficient communication, and conflict resolution.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversight of facility access by swiping cards
  • Ensure cleanliness of equipment through regular detailing and inspection
  • Monitor fitness floors to ensure safety through consistent oversight and walkthroughs
  • Provide spotting for patrons on an as-needed basis
  • Represent the Department of Campus Recreation in a professional manner at all times
  • Provide a safe, fun and clean atmosphere for all members and guests in the facility
  • Establish and maintain a welcoming environment for all members and guests in the facility
  • Provide exemplary customer service to all members and guests
  • Enforce and execute all policies and procedures set forth by the Department
  • Respond as needed to emergency situations and follow the Emergency Action Plan
  • Make sound, time-sensitive decisions based on the Department's mission and vision
  • Provide tours to guests visiting the facility
  • Maintain accurate Pro Shop inventory and assist with re-stocking as needed
  • Maintain the quality of the facility and equipment through detailed inspection and reporting
  • Assist with special events taking place on an as-needed basis
  • Attend all requires meetings and trainings as scheduled
  • Assist with special projects and tasks as assigned

Job Requirements

  • American Red Cross CPR for Professional Rescuer, AED & First Aid Certification
  • Must be currently enrolled as a degree-seeking student in good academic standing at WVU
  • Previous customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with others
  • Willing to work morning, afternoon, evening and weekend hours as scheduled
  • Possess general knowledge of all Campus Recreation programs
