Duties and Responsibilities
- Caring for children of all ages, from six weeks to eight years of ages
- Facilitating safe, quality play among small groups of children
- Supervising children at all times and interacting in their activities
- Executing overall program operations including teaching instructional lessons, facilitating activities and addressing behavioral needs of participants
- Providing educational lessons to teach children new skills and a fun experience for all children
- Establishing and maintaining positive and appropriate relationships with children, parents/guardians and staff
- Maintaining an environment for young children that meets WV state childcare center licensing regulations
- Representing the Departments of Campus Recreation & Student Family Resources in a professional manner at all times
- Enforcing and executing all policies and procedures set-forth by the Departments
- Making sound, time-sensitive decisions based on the Department’s mission, vision and values
- Attending all required meetings and trainings as scheduled
- Assisting with leading, developing, planning, preparing, supervising, and other general program operations, activities, and initiatives
- Assisting with special projects and other tasks/duties as assigned (such as: organizing and sanitizing materials to ensure the facility remains safe and clean)
Job Requirements
- Previous experience working with young children
- Demonstrate ability to care for and educate young children
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents and staff
- American Red Cross CPR for Professional Rescuer, AED & First Aid Certification (which can be provided for you by Campus Recreation upon being hired for the position)
- Policy 49 -Children on Campus – Child Abuse Prevention Training (which can be provided for you upon being hired for the position)
- Title IX -Harassment & Discrimination Prevention Training (which can be provided for you upon being hired for the position
- Training and/or experience in one or more of the following areas are preferred: Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field, childcare, camp counseling, team building, experiential education, recreational activities and arts & crafts
- Must be currently enrolled as a degree-seeking student in good academic standing at WVU

- Hours vary based on availability and the Mountaineer KidZone operational schedule
