Intramural Offical

Job Description

Intramural Sports Officials are employed within the West Virginia University Competitive Sports Program. They are trained to provide administration and judgment of all situations that occur during Intramural Sports activities. Intramural Sports Officials make decisions based on the rules of the game, safety and risk management, WVU Intramural Sports rules differences and the mission and vision of the Campus Recreation Department. Shifts are based out of the Student Recreation Center, Mylan Park, and the Evansdale Recreation Fields. Students who are degree-seeking and enrolled at WVU are eligible for this position.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of each participant by applying the roles of the game
  • Appraise teams of their sportsmanship during each contest
  • Interpret the principles of advantage/disadvantage during game situations
  • Prepare the facilities for each contest, including set-up/breakdown and risk management evaluation
  • Attend and show active involvement as mandated at New Hire and Sport-Specific Training sessions
  • Attend and show active involvement as required at staff meetings and in-service training

Job Requirements

  • Ability to work nights Monday-Friday
  • Minimum of 2 shifts per week (shifts range from 3-5 hours)
  • Capability to meet the physical requirements of the job
  • Degree-seeking and enrolled at West Virginia University
