Facility Maintenance

Job Description

Within the Department of Campus Recreation,  Facilities Maintenance Technicians assist with equipment maintenance and inspection, as well as general facility maintenance and upkeep. Facilities Maintenance Techs gain skills and experience pertaining to technical and mechanical, time management, effective and efficient communication, and conflict resolution.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform routine equipment maintenance, including inspecting cables, machine lubrication, upholstery care, and additional preventative maintenance and repair
  • Assist with general facility maintenance
  • Move, set up, rearrange, and dismantle desks, tables, chairs, displays, and other related equipment using a dolly, hand cart, or physically lifting objects
  • Support facility supervisor with special event setups and breakdowns
  • Inspect and document the functionality of equipment and facility spaces and communicate immediate issues to professional maintenance staff.
  • Ensure proper organization and upkeep of facility spaces.
  • Represent the Department of Campus Recreation in a professional manner at all times
  • Provide a safe, fun, and clean atmosphere for all members and guests in the facility
  • Establish and maintain a welcoming environment for all members and guests in the facility
  • Respond as needed to emergency situations and follow the Emergency Action Plan
  • Make sound, time-sensitive decisions based on the Department's mission and vision
  • Maintain the quality of the facility and equipment through detailed inspection and reporting
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings as scheduled
  • Assist with special projects and tasks as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled as a degree-seeking student in good academic standing at WVU
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with others
  • Willing to work morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend hours as scheduled
  • Technical/mechanical experience preferred

Benefits

  • $11/Hour
  • 10-20 Hours/Week
