Daniel Hepfer

GRADUATE ASSISTANT FOR AQUATICS | CAMPUS RECREATION

Daniel Hepfer currently serves as the Aquatics Graduate Assistant for Campus Recreation. He received his Bachelors in Psychology from Indiana University in 2018.

Throughout his undergraduate career, Daniel worked at IU Recreational Sports as a Lifeguard and Swim Instructor, then as a Program Assistant after graduating. He maintains a collection of aquatic certifications including American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety Instructor, and NSPF Certified Pool Operator.

As the Aquatics Graduate Assistant, he oversees the day to day operations of the pool along with any water-based programming or special events. Daniel’s favorite part of his job is getting to know all the lifeguards, swim instructors, and participants that make the pool an enjoyable place to work.

In Daniel’s free time, he enjoys running on the Mon Trail, swimming, and reading.

Things you wouldn’t expect about Daniel:

  • He once biked from San Francisco, CA to Bloomington, IN with over 60 other peers in the summer of 2012. Over 2,000 miles and completed in 27 days, it was a very challenging but rewarding month for him.
  • He can swim under water for 50 yards without taking a breath
  • He has a fatal attraction to chocolate
