Novel Coronavirus - Programming and Facility Impacts

Campus Recreation is working hard to ensure that safety precautions are being implemented everywhere possible to keep our students, faculty and staff safe. While the Rec Center reopening is pending, programming and events for this semester are still being determined. Most of the events/programming will be happening outside of the recreation center. Please pay attention to the calendar for specific events and follow our social media accounts for updates!

Please direct any questions to either or call us at (304) 293-7529.

Fitness Swimming

If you're looking for a way to continue developing your swimming skills in a fun group setting, you've come to the right place!

Whether you are an experienced swimmer, a triathlete or an intermediate fitness swimmer, the Fitness Swim Program has a lane just for you. This program is designed to improve your swimming, help you learn and implement new techniques and take your current workouts to the next level with the help of a supportive community. The fitness swim club is a group of water enthusiasts looking to meet new people, have fun and get fit in the water. We pride ourselves on our program offering something to everyone, including, but not limited to triathletes looking to improve their swimming skills or swimmers looking to change their workouts and improve their techniques.

The Campus Recreation Fitness Swim program is open to ALL legal adults who would like to participate!

  • Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays 5:30 - 7:00pm

Participants may choose how often they come to practice and which practices they attend. This program is designed to provide opportunities to participants with busy schedules. During each practice, coaches will lead a structured workout which incorporates various drills and stroke techniques to improve time, form, and confidence.

Practice is open to all Student Rec Center members. Drop-ins are welcome and a guest pass is available for $10.00 at the front desk of the SRC. Participants must be able to swim 100 yards and have basic knowledge of swimming. Bring a cap, goggles and water to every practice! To get the most out of your workouts we recommend purchasing fins, pull buoy and paddles.
