The Student Recreation Center is now open. Due to ongoing work on the chillers' mechanical systems, staff will monitor the weather and adjust the building hours if the temperature is unsafe for physical activity.

Coronavirus Updates

The Student Rec Center is operating under specific guidelines.

Following the opening of the Student Recreation Center, we ask that you adhere to our specific guidelines. We thank you for your patience and support over the past year and are excited to welcome you back when you are ready. With this exciting news in mind, we want to provide you with details and information so you can make an informed decision for yourself and your family.

Effective January 4, 2022: Masks will temporarily be required for everyone - regardless of vaccination status - indoors in all WVU Systems buildings and facilities through at least February 1.

Effective September 13, 2021: When transiting the Student Rec Center through the lobby and open space, masks must be on regardless of vaccination status. Campus Recreation encourages mask wearing while exercising and we ask participants to try to social distance yourself from others while actively working out.

Effective September 16, 2021:  Due to staffing shortages, hours of operation will be adjusted at the Student Recreation Center beginning Thursday, Sept. 16. Facilities usage and operations were reviewed to determine where adjustments could be made. Please note, these adjustments are being made due to a lack of applications for employment and are NOT a result of COVID-19 cases or ongoing COVID-19 testing in the facility.

  • The Aquatics area (pool, leisure pool, spa, etc.) will close one hour prior to building closing unless otherwise specified.
  • The Student Recreation Center will close two hours prior to the kick-off for home football games. Please visit WVU Football Schedule for announced game times.
